The book reveals the connection of art with the evolution of the physical and chemical through biological to the mental and language - all related in the binary struggle between pain and pleasure of which art is a reflection, and a quest to overcome. This binary friction occurs in all aspects of life from the smallest cellular processes to the grand combats between men on earth. Kirjan ensimmäisessä osassa, All is Art: On Social Practices and Interpretation of Feelings, kirjailija esittää uuden filosofiakäsityksensä: ”Yhteiskunnallisten käytäntöjen ja tunteiden tulkinnan filosofian.” Tämän on tarkoitus korvata vallitsevan tieteenkäsityksen (tai pikemminkin väärinkäsityksen), jota kohtaan kirjassa esitetään musertava kritiikki. Kirjassa esitetään, että tieteen sijasta kaikki inhimmillen ja sosiaalinen on taidetta (luovuutta), joka lähtee ihmisen biologisista tarpeista tunteidensa tulkintaan. Tästä tunteiden tulkinnasta syntyi ja kehityy kieli. Tieto (ja yhtä lailla väärä tieto, väärinkäsitykset) ja tiedostaminen on tulos yksittäisten ihmisten tunteiden tulkinnoista aikojen alusta ja siitä, miten nämä tulkinnat ovat heijastuneet kieleen ja sen kautta ihmiskunnan sosiaaliseen (yhteiskunnalliseen) ulottuvuuteen. Kirjassa pidetään lähtökohtana, että biologinen evoluutio kaikkein alkukantaisemmasta elämästä ihmiselämään on tulos kahden vastakkaisen vaikutteen, kivun ja mielihyvän, jatkuvasta vuorovaikutuksesta (kamppailusta) ja korostetaan, että kieli on tämän samaisen vuorovaikutuksen mentaalinen ilmentymä, sen kehittymättömin vaihe.– Tämän uudenlaisen tieteenkäsityksen tueksi kirjassa viitataan useasti Marcel Proustiin. Kirjan toisessa osasssa, Demokraattinen Kilpailu (On Democratic Competition), käsitellään demokratian perusolemusta tämän yhteiskunnallisten käytäntöjen filosofian valossa. Kirjassa demokratia-käsite rinnastetaan Michel Foucaultin valta- käsitteeseen ja korostetaan, etteivät myöskään nämä käsitteet edusta mitään esineellistä todellisuutta vaan ovat pelkkiä mielleyhtymiä, erilaisia katsantokantoja, toinen toisensa ulottuvuuksia ja molemmat yhtä monivivahteisia. – Avarakatseinen lukija voi esityksestä ymmärtää paremmin Venäjän demokratia kehitystä ja Vladimir Putinin historiallista panosta tässä kehityksessä.
