Peer Gynt (vanhemmat luokat)
In 1876 Henryk Ibsen's play Peer Gy nt received its first performance in Christiania. At the author's request, the music to the play was written by Eduard Grieg. So emerged one of the most remarkable works of this great Norwegian composer. By exploring the world of Norwegian folklore, the composer was able to create a work of unusual lyricism and strength of image. There are three distinctive strands in Grieg's music to Peer Gynt: the creative world of folksongs, the world of trolls and mountain spirits, and a warm, heartfelt lyricism. Grieg subsequently made two orchestral suites from the music for the play, and later still them for piano.
The composer's often republished piano arrangement of the suites in heard on the concert stage and used in the teaching class. This composition of a great composer enjoys much popularity amongst a wide range of music-lovers and enhances the domestic music-making of many of them.

Эдвард Григ (1843–1907) — выдающийся норвежский композитор-романтик, пианист, дирижер, музыкальный деятель. Ярко индивидуальный стиль Грига, тонкого художника-колориста, во многом близок музыкальному импрессионизму. Фортепианные пьесы Грига чрезвычайно популярны в концертной и педагогической практике. Часто именно они становятся первым прикосновением юного музыканта к романтическому стилю.
