The Sketchеs to Sunset are composed on the base of the music to the film «Sunset» by Alexander Zel’dovitch after Isaak Babel’s play of the same name. Several versions of this composition exist.
The action of the film takes place in Odessa during the First World War, focusing on the story of the Jewish gangster Mendel Krik’s family.
The music resembles some queer mixture, the ingredients of which are tango and the so-called klezmer music (instrumental music of the Jewish Eastern-European Diaspora).

Действие фильма происходит в Одессе во время Первой мировой войны и фокусируется на истории семьи еврейского гангстера Менделя Крика. Музыка представляет собой довольно странный микст, основными ингредиентами которого являются танго и так называемая клезмерская музыка (инструментальная музыка евреев восточноевропейской диаспоры).
