Sir Henry Rider Haggard was an English writer of adventure novels set mostly in Africa, and a founder of the Lost World literary genre. Beatrice follows the story of the Welsh title character Beatrice Granger, a teacher, and the affair that takes place with an unhappily married man, Geoffrey Bingham.
