The Same Difference? introduces ethical and political issues related to the everyday practice of dance through the writings of nine dance artists, educators and scholars. Together the articles provide a multiple view on the field of dance art and dance research. They affirm the importance of considering the values, beliefs and norms according to which practitioners and scholars work within the field of dance art.

The Specific themes that this anthology addresses include teaching and learning dance, the nature of the choreographic process, as well as the problem of observing and evaluating dance art and researching dance pedagogy. Even if each article addresses different issues, they share some ideas and perspectives with each other. Among others, they are: emotions, lived experience of subjection, life-history and narrative, institutional norms, construction of gender and identity, a researcher's ethics and the evaluative eye. In linking these issues to different views on the ethical and political dimensions of human life, the articles in this anthology make an important contribution to the practice of dance art and the field of dance research.
