Varkled-Bödya is a unique Udmurt village, which has maintained its traditional Udmurt spiritual culture and religion. This research presents only a small sample of its living rituals - the spring rituals, which according to the traditional calendar mark the beginning of the New Year. In this book, we have attempted to describe, as precisely as possible, what we saw during our fieldwork of 2017. This complex of several rituals starts from the initiation of boys, Eru/Eur Karon, on the Thursday before Easter, and is followed in the evening by the chasing of evil spirits - Shaytan Ullyan - in each house. On Sunday two rituals are held in parallel: the girls' initiation -Akashka - and a ritual of strengthening each kin in the village, vös'nerge. The description and analysis are completed by photographic and visual material from the same rituals in 1993 and 2017.
